I am sure you have been jumping puddles at some point during your childhood while or after rain and I bet you remember it as one of the most fun things ever. Why do adults get mad when doing so?
When the weekend’s weather have been forecasted as rainy, the guests that have booked our cottage for the weekend constantly arrive concerned about it, specially if they come with kids. I always tell them rain can also be fun! I suggest them to get wet, go puddle jumping, collect snails, try finding the rainbow…!
We have little rain here in Spain, so our wellington boots are almost brand new. I so look forward to a rainy day to be able to wear them, I love them! When it rains here it lasts a few hours or maybe one day but not much more… So using our boots is the perfect excuse to go puddle jumping. Jaume and Candi jump of excitement when they see rain pouring out of the window.
I love observing the kids speeding through puddles, jumping high to splash as much as possible and getting dirty. As I always say… dirty clothes is a sign of fun and happiness.
One of my favourite feelings ever is after walking, running (or in our case after taking care of the cattle), coming back home all wet, drying and putting on dry clothes. It feels so good!!
So… let the kids do it! No, they won’t get sick! They won’t stop running, jumping, they are full of euphoria and adrenalin so their little bodies will keep warm. Just change their clothes as soon as they are enter home. In addition to that, I would suggest you to join them in the fun! They will love it even more! It is never too late to live life, enjoy and have fun.
